Ireland

Born and raised in Ireland. Attended college in Ireland and the UK. Served in the Army Reserve. Spent five years in the security industry before discovering I.T. around the year 2000.

I worked as a Web Developer at Belgrave Ireland from 2000 to mid-2001. Then I met an American woman. Everything changed.

America

I moved to Long Island in 2001 to be with my fiancée. We've been married nearly 25 years. Two kids — one heading off to college. Still have the Irish accent. Clients mention it.

After relocating, I became I.T. Manager at LongIslandTradeXchange, managing an online barter platform, an IVR phone system, and a database with 100 million records alongside a tight technical team.

OConnell I.T.

Founded in 2004. I wanted to understand how small businesses actually work — not from a textbook, but from inside their operations. Curiosity drove me, not dissatisfaction.

From day one, it was referral-based: home visits led to family referrals, led to business clients, led to vendor referrals. No contracts. No lock-in. If I don't earn the relationship every year, I don't deserve it.

Solo operator. Clients deal directly with me. I text back fast. Remotes in. Problem solved — often in under five minutes. Serving Suffolk County from Bohemia to Sayville.

The Nerd

Total nerd. I love movies, travel, politics, and history. I find the current AI revolution genuinely exciting — it's the most transformative technology shift I've seen in my career.

My philosophy: Pay ten dollars in planning or a hundred in fixes. I.T. is a force multiplier for small business. Every small business should have three advisors — a CPA, a lawyer, and an I.T. person. Be two years ahead of your clients on technology. And any business not engaged in digital marketing is declining.
